Last May 9 to 11, the Susanoy Desabelle clan had their family reunion, which they called their "Delight Days". Susanoy is the nickname combination of their departed parents, Susay and Sanoy. I found out an interesting fact that Lolo Sanoy and Lola Susay had a dozen children, with a lot more grandchildren and great grandchildren. The total count of descendants from the clan was estimated to be around 90 people... and here I was thinking that relatives from my father's side were only a handful!
On the 10th of May, we went to Molobolo Cold Spring and Beach for some leisure time and fun. The great thing was that I did not spend a single cent so I'd only be doing a review of the place instead.
Molobolo Cold Spring and Beach

It is located in Tuburan, Cebu, which is 2 to 3 hours away from Cebu City. It consists of a cold spring right next to a beach, giving more swimming options for its guests. The good thing with the place is that adults and children can enjoy the cold freshwater in the cold spring, with the 5-foot deep and 3-foot deep pools. If one wanted to get a tan and taste saltwater, he/she can always go to the beach which is a stone throw away from the cold spring.

The entrance fee to the place is Php 5 for adults and Php 2 for children. Cottages are priced at Php 150 to 300. There are affordable snacks available at the place, but it is best to bring your own meals.

Given the cheap fees of the place, it is unsurprising that Molobolo gets crowded during peak seasons (naturally during holidays and breaks in the Philippines). The cold spring's water may also get murky especially right after a storm. On one hand, Molobolo's beach has lots of pebbles so it's best to wear slippers during swimming.
Desabelle*, not a typographical error
My family name Desabille sounds similar to the French word "deshabille" that means carelessly dressed or unclothed. Some decades ago, the eldest child of the Susanoy Desabelle clan found out about it and decided to change their family name's spelling, thanks to the loose implementation of name-changing laws. Interestingly enough, according to them, we even have distant relatives who went as far as changing the original Desabille to Besabella and de Sabelle.
I am proud of my Desabille, with its rugged definition and negative connotation. I consider it a challenge to not live up to its original meaning. I know that they have their own reasons, too, and those reasons should be respected. I am somehow reminded of the Romeo and Juliet line "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet". We still recognize each other as family because we believe that we are family, that's what matters.
Oh, and I have to note here that during the Desabelle Delight Days, no bad karaoke song was sung. I am now inclined to believe that a good singing voice is genetic... but correlation does not equal causation! Haha.
Until the next adventure,
Dena
